On 24 June, our September boatbuilding students brought their boats down to Lyme Regis Harbour for their very first launch — the culmination of months of hard work, craftsmanship and dedication.
It was a fantastic celebration of the skills they’ve developed and the beginning of their careers in the boatbuilding industry.
The boats taking to the water included:
• 18’ traditional clinker-built Grimsay workboat, double-ender with inboard engine
• 17’ strip-planked Gartside #221 outboard runabout
• 16’ Ebihen glued clinker, cutter-rigged sailing boat
The launch also features the presentation of Decibel, our 91-year-old boat restoration project and 16’ composite foam-core and glued clinker dinghy that were both worked on by our students.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on The Cobb to cheer the students on and help us celebrate this special occasion. Your support made the day even more memorable!
