2026 Events
14th October – BBA Talks: Fred Baier @18:00
Well known for his playful postmodern designs, with pieces in significant public collections such as the V&A, conceptual furniture artist Fred Baier will lead us through his sixty-year career, illustrating his unique way of working and sharing his expertise on how to gather your own unique perspective and skillset to generate original creative ideas.
3rd December – Launch Day @12:30
Our February 2026 cohort of the 40-week boatbuilding course will be taking their finished boats down to the harbour for their very first launch.
The three student comissioned boats are:
- 16′ traditional sailing dinghy, gaff rigged, Paul Gartside design #218
- 19′ stitch and glue centre console C19 design with outboard power, Bateaux Boats
- 18′ strip plank Lyme Bay crabber, Gaff rigged and inboard diesel auxiliary engine. Mike Broome design
11th December – Furniture Exhibition @15:30-17:30
Join us at the Lyme Regis Power Boat Club (opposite the Boat Building Academy) to see the work of our 12-week furniture making students. They’ll be showcasing their beautifully crafted tote boxes, tables, and cabinets, along with the unique final project pieces they will design and make.
