The Boat Building Academy has selected Janet Breeze as its Chair of Trustees.

The appointment comes as the Academy embarks on an ambitious five-year plan to secure its future as the last remaining dedicated boat building school in the UK.

Janet, 64, is a consultant with broad experience of providing corporate responsibility (CR) and project advice to multinationals, NGOs, governments, and international development agencies.

Having worked in Latin America, Europe, India, and the Middle East, she has been based in Lyme Regis since 2020, becoming a trustee for the BBA in 2024 alongside volunteering for Turn Lyme Green, the Seaside Store, and the Community Speed Watch.

Will Reed, Director of the BBA said: “Janet is already an integral part of the governance and success of the BBA, and I am extremely happy to pass the baton of this position on to her.

“Her breadth of knowledge and passion for the BBA will be invaluable as we prepare to purchase our building and in doing so secure the academy’s future.”

Will Reed will continue as a trustee and Director of the Academy.

Janet said: “I am delighted and honoured to take on this role and look forward to building on the BBA’s success and collaborating with its trustees, staff and partners to fulfil its ambitious plans for the future.”

In 2026 the BBA will begin the process of purchasing its current building on Monmouth Beach in Lyme Regis before beginning renovations.
