Before joining the Academy Tom worked in a variety of roles in the TV and film industry, although he had always been interested in wood and woodworking. His father is a cabinet maker and Tom enjoyed watching and helping him at work while growing up. Tom moved into his own workshop in Oxfordshire straight after finishing his course at the Academy. At first Tom’s commissions were from family and friends, but through word of mouth his customer base has now grown. “I haven’t had to do any marketing really yet which is great. It’s been nonstop since the start which is so fortunate. It’s such a pleasure to have found my vocation, to be able to channel all my thought and energy towards cabinet making. I feel excited arriving at the workshop every morning.”
