Ben C

Ben was part of the class of September 2012 on our 40-week boat building course.

Ben is a bespoke furniture maker and joiner, based in South London. Creating and making furniture is a passion that can be judged from both the originality of the design and the quality of the finished article. Using traditional and modern joinery techniques to produce beautifully crafted wooden furniture with a modern twist.

Ben’s passion for woodworking was inspired by his time at sea, sailing classic yachts, where he learned joinery and finishing techniques during the upkeep and refurbishment of these beautiful craft.

Ben enrolled on the 40 week course and was a valued member of the Class of September 2012. During his training at the Academy, he and the class built ‘Ack Emma’ – a 7 ½ foot clinker dinghy.

After graduating, Ben went to work for Spirit Yachts, which gave him valuable experience in both modern and traditional joinery techniques.

Now having founded his own furniture making company, Ben will be exhibiting his work at ‘New Designer’ in London for their ‘One Year In’ section, which is for designers in their first year of business.
