Students
Students are of all ages and come from all over the world. Working with a mix of nationalities, backgrounds and experience, all sharing a common passion, adds enormous value to the course.
Ages have ranged from 18 to seventy two (although we do make exceptions for exceptional 17 year olds), but the average age of our students is around 35. Some people are training for their first career, others are looking for a change, some are taking a sabbatical and others, after retirement, are doing something they have always dreamed of.
Students' ambitions after the course vary: to work in the marine industry (in yards ranging from small traditional yards to volume manufacturers like Princess Yachts or Sunseeker); to provide themselves

with the practical skills to underpin, for example, a Marine Architecture degree or Yachtmasters; to set up their own business; to use the practical skills they learn outside the marine industry; or to build or restore a boat for themselves.
'Case Studies' from page 19 of the prospectus (download our prospectus at the top right hand side of this page) details what a representative sample of Academy graduates have done since finishing the course.
Go to 'Student Profiles' for details of our current students and the boats they are building.
